Five Letters

Guess the word in six tries. Type a real word and each letter is coloured: green if it is in place, yellow if it is somewhere else and grey if it is not in the word. From those clues, you work out the word.

Fair. The answer is always an everyday word, written and checked by hand: no obscure words.

The word of the day. Every day, one five-letter word, the same for everyone, with a streak and a calendar, and you share your result as coloured squares without giving the word away. In free play, 4, 5 or 6-letter words, as many as you like.

Learn as you play. When you finish you see the word with a short definition. There are hints, a hard mode and colour-blind colours.

Genuinely calm. No ads, no purchases and no accounts. Your games, stats and achievements stay on your device. In English, Spanish and Catalan, each language with its own words.

How to play

Type a real word and press Enter. Each letter is coloured: green if it is in the word and in the right place, yellow if it is in the word but elsewhere, and grey if it is not in the word. Repeated letters are coloured only as many times as they appear. You get six tries.

Tips to get started

• Start with a word made of common letters with no repeats, such as CRANE or SLATE.
• Watch the yellow letters: they are in the word, but somewhere else, so try moving them.
• If you get stuck, a hint gives you a letter you do not have yet.
